Luka Lesson – Book Launch

Brisbane based APS Champion Luka Lesson launches his debut book, The Future Ancients

Featuring a full set by Luka accompanied by line-up of outstanding poets and musicians.

The Future Ancients is the first book from renowned Australian Poetry Slam Champion Luka Lesson.

As a collection of his slam poetry pieces and rap verses The Future Ancients is a testament to the poetic nature of the spoken word. A record of 30 poems written from 2008-2013, it takes the reader from the Greek coastlines of his ancestors, through reflections of Australia’s dark history and into pockets of philosophy and love.

Above all The Future Ancients calls its reader to consider the theme of its title piece: What will we leave behind as a generation? As an added extra the author has provided 50 lined pages for the reader to become a part of this conversation. Part poetry collection, part notebook, The Future Ancients also includes QR codes which link through an easy smart phone scan to audio or video recordings online, giving the reader a fully interactive experience.

This ‘Evolving Book’ will have links unlocked after it’s publication when new videos and interactive resources are produced, letting the reader experience more than what resides between it’s pages at the time of purchase.

With two years of international touring, 11 Writers’ Festivals, 7 years of workshop experience and almost ten years of writing under his belt, Luka ‘Lesson’ Haralampou has written commissions and performed for the likes of The Nuyorican Poets’ Cafe (NYC), The National Gallery of Victoria, Trinity International Hip-hop Festival and China’s most celebrated living poet Xi Chuan in Beijing.
