LAURIE MAY

Laurie May is a central Australian poet hailing from the Gulf of Carpentaria. She is the Artistic and Festival Director for the Red Dirt Poetry Festival and The Dirty Word. After winning the Central Australia Poetry Slam in 2012, Laurie went on to create a safe space for poetry creation and a platform for sharing in Alice Springs and now mentors newcomers to the poetry scene as well as facilitates workshops in schools in remote communities of the Northern Territory.
