Word Travels 10th Birthday Illustration

ON NOVEMBER 14TH, WORD TRAVELS TURNS TEN. WOO! HOO!

THAT’S A DECADE OF PROGRAMS GIVING VOICE TO THOUSANDS OF WRITERS: REMARKA-BUBBLE!

Word Travels, the little literary org behind Australian Poetry Slam, invites you to a 10th birthday party at Story Week 2020: November 6 - 14.

Get a Story Week ticket today. Anyone who buys a $100 ticket, receives a special invite to Word Travels’ digital birthday celebration. It’s a combination performance, catch-up, house party and a chance to grab yourself a gift in our online auction.

All of the auction items were donated to Word Travels by people just like yourself. So when you buy stuff, you give Australian writers more time on the mic and help diverse communities share their stories.

It’s also not too late to donate some swag. Get in touch if you want to put your skills or your valuables on the online auction block.

Here’s a taste of two things on offer so far…

BOTTLE OF HENSCHKE HILL OF GRACE 1998 SHIRAZ, EDEN VALLEY, VALUED AT $800 (BIDDING STARTS AT $500)

This 1998 shiraz from South Australia’s Eden Valley is a truly poetic vintage.
“I have never drunk anything this old or expensive in my entire life”, spoken word poet.
Perfect for those who want to support poets while getting an amazing bottle of vino.

“It is hard to find a more compelling red than Henschke’s 1998 Shiraz Hill of Grace. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by a gorgeous perfume of blackberries, graphite and subtle wood. Full-bodied yet extraordinarily well-defined and layered. It remains young and backward, with tremendous potential. It is the finest Hill of Grace I have ever passed over my palate and down the gullet.”

-Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate

NB: May we all “remain young and backward, with tremendous potential”. Just like this fine plonk.

In the following weeks we will be releasing more details of auction items, our birthday celebrations, and all events throughout Story Week on our website at Word Travels.

We could not undertake the work we do to celebrate spoken word in Australia without your support and the support of audiences across the country and the world. If you just love what we do and wanna donate cash, please jump to this page to show us some love. It’s all tax deductible over $2.
