Lu Faria
Brazilian-born, Sydney / Eora-based and a traveller at heart, Lu Faria is a DJ, selector and cultural curator who follows music as a way of connecting with people, places and her own roots.
Having already performed at three Australian Poetry Slams, Lu now joins Word Travellers for the biggest stop yet: the ‘26 National Final at the Sydney Opera House, giving spoken word a groove to land on.
Deeply inspired by Afro-Brazilian rhythms and global sounds, her selections are guided by percussion, bass, groove and feeling, moving between deep listening and dancefloor energy. A member of the Disconecta and Femme Forward collectives and an avid supporter of local crews, Lu also helps amplify vinyl and sound system cultures through music, cultural events, talks and workshops.
