Maryam popal zahid
Maryam is an emerging theatre writer. Her theatre show The Good Woman which was launched in August 2019 has been a spectacular success. As the founder of the Afghan Women on the Move Inc, Maryam has successfully led refugee women in arts and cultural programs as part of the Daneha exhibition and performance program at Blacktown Arts.
This has included a series of visual art works and new writing for performance. She has also facilitated cultural nights for women from the refugee community.
Maryam is currently employed as a Domestic Violence Prevention Project officer for SydWest Multicultural Services, working with newly arrived refugees and migrants in Western Sydney. She is also a bi-lingual health educator at NSW Refugee Health and casual voice dabber at SBS Australia.
