Idil Abdullahi

Idil Abdullahi is a Somali-born contemporary artist and cultural practitioner based on Darug Country (Sydney). Her ceramic practice draws from Somali material culture, Sufi traditions, and everyday rituals to explore identity, memory, and Black femininity. Working with hand-built techniques, she incorporates beads, textured surfaces, and layered finishes to reimagine traditional forms. With a background in community work, she brings a relational and process-driven approach to making. Abdullahi holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNSW Art & Design and an Advanced Diploma in Ceramics. Her work Kawsar is currently showing in Kerameikos at the Chau Chak Wing Museum until 2026.
