Lizzie Chan
Lizzie Chan is an eldest Asian daughter, which means she’s fluent in guilt, spice tolerance, and multitasking. A teacher by day and a writer/director by night, she’s convinced her parents she’s either a vampire or a secret agent. Growing up in a blended family in Indonesia shaped her voice, honest, poetic, and a little rebellious.
Lizzie’s the 2023 UWRF Grand Slam and 2024 Ubud Women’s Slam champion, and founder of @jakartapoetryslam and @jakartaimprovclub. Her second poetry book Seeking Neon Buddha, supported by Southeast Asia Queer Cultural Festival (SEAQCF), explores queerness and family, though she’s doing her best to make sure her parents never realize it’s about them. So if you know them… shhh.
