PoetiCas has been hosting regular poetry gatherings in Castlemaine since 2015, following on the tradition of Ross Donlon's poetry readings in the decade prior. It has grown into a wonderful community and their monthly events are beloved by many.

The usual format brings a feature reader to share their work, as well as an open section for the community to share their own original poems in a warm and supportive space, lovingly All are welcome to attend, to read or just to listen.

This month's featured writers:
A duo reading featuring Julie Gittus and Ann de Hugard. (Both involved in organising PoetiCas).

Julie Gittus has been a recipient of two Varuna fellowships and her short stories have been published in a range of Australian anthologies. Her YA novel, Saltwater Moons, was published by Hachette Livre.

Ann de Hugard’s poems explore (among many subjects) family, childhood, dead lovers and ageing. Her first collection, A Question of Translation, was chosen by Chris Wallace Crabbe as one of the best books of 2010.

Content Warning: Most Poetry Slams and literary events are all ages and some content may not be suitable for children. Performances may include strong language and / or adult themes.
